During the 6th tender held on August 7, 2003, Albayrak Tourism Inc. made the highest bid at 22.4 million dollars (surpassing the canceled 5th tender price by 6,6 million dollars) during the final bargaining negotiations. The decision (numbered No. 25279) went into force with its publication in the Official Gazette on November 4, 2003 after the announcement of the result of the tender and approval of the decision (No. 2003/76) of the Supreme Council for Privatization dated 10.31.2003/

In order to take over the port of Trabzon, and in accordance to the “Tender Specifications”, our company Trabzon Port Management Inc. was established. The Transfer Protocol relating to the transfer of the 30-year operating rights to Trabzon Port was signed on November 20, 2003 (Friday), and the actual operation of Trabzon Port began on Saturday, November 21, 2003.

Trabzon port is the only publicly traded port among 180 international operating ports and coastal facilities in Turkey (January 24, 2018), and we’re determined to continue to work with all our might to be the driving force of our Trabzon and region.

Trabzon Port is located between 40 57′ 30″ latitude to the north, 40 02′ 30″ longitude to the east and 41 06′ 36″ latitude to the north, and 39 25′ 00″ longitudes to the east. In other words, it is situated between the sea and the coastal area bordered by the lines drawn from Narlık Cape in the east and Işıklı Cape in the west and adjacent to Turkish territorial waters in the north. Located at the crossroads of Sea and History, the city of Trabzon and its port are part of the Historic Silk Road, which has for centuries been a melting pot for religions, languages and cultures, and a trade gate that overlooks Iran in the east, as well as Russia and the Caucasus to the north. The Silk Road, which forks into several routes in Central Asia starting from China, was considered one of the crucial routes, through which the wealth of the East flowed to the West via Trabzon Port.
